Our Values & Principles
Indigitek’s Values and Principles are our guide to supporting the way we operate as an organisation and supporting our focus on driving self-determination and economic participation opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people via STEAM Learning and Career Pathways.
We stand true to our guiding Values and Principles so that we are consistent in our approach to achieving the outcomes that we are seeking for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who interact with Indigitek.
Values
Safety
Forming and maintaining safe spaces for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to exist and engage across the STEAM ecosystem.
Cultural Respect
Understanding and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories and ensuring that these are at the forefront of all of our engagements.
Empowerment
A belief in elevating and amplifying all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and successes across the STEAM spectrum.
Collaboration
A commitment to working together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities and with our various stakeholders to go on a shared journey.
Principles
Outcomes driven
Our work is driven by achieving sustainable outcomes for people and communities we engage with and we expect that any stakeholder that engages with Indigitek also aligns with this belief and practice.
For us, By Us
Building programs and engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through our personal lived experiences and ensuring that these are at the centre of the way we engage with people in our communities.
Respect
Respecting and seeking to understand every individual, their communities and their cultures in order to engage in a considered, inclusive and safe manner.
Inclusive
Creating and providing access to STEAM Pathways for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the country.
Failing is not failure
We promote an ecosystem that supports our people and our community to fail at things. Failing is where the most valuable lessons are learnt. Through the experience of failing we learn the most when we reflect on what happened. There is no ‘shame job’ in failing. Being comfortable to fail means that we are opening ourselves up to exploring new things.
No Shame
We aim to create safe spaces where we can become comfortable to be ourselves and support each other for who we are. Who you are is your identity and your identity is the foundation of the journey that you choose to take. Let’s strengthen our identity so we can always aim to put our best foot forward.
